In January of 1967, Launch 5 made her maiden voyage across Sheepshead Bay in New York. An article that appeared in the NYPD magazine Spring 3100 discusses the dedication and maiden voyage of Launch 5 and her sister vessel, Launch 7:

"Ptl. Henry A. Walburger, the newest addition to the department's marine arm, cuts deftly through the waters of Sheepshead Bay on its maiden voyage after being launched in November. Named for a slain department hero, the new vessel, designated as launch #5, began patrol immediately after dedication by DCI James J. McGuire at the Sheepshead Bay Launch Base. Ceremonies included an Invocation by Rev. Edmund A. Bosch and a blessing of the launch by Rev. John H. Walker. Captain John P. Lowe accepted command of the launch for the Harbor Pct."
