June 6-12, 2009. The Hudson River: For 8 days, Launch 5 & crew served as the floating safety and security command post for the Hudson River Quadricentennial Celebration. A flotilla of sailing ships led by the Half Moon - a replica of Henry Hudson's ship - set sail out of New York Harbor on June 6 bound for Albany. The trip took a week with stopovers at various towns along the way. Click the picture to the left to see more photos from the week |

Tribute to a
Fallen Hero: The December 2004 PassageMaker Magazine published an excellent 7 1/2 page article on the Launch 5 story written by Sally Bee Brown. This article is a great "one stop shop" for the history of Launch 5 and her crews (past and present) in excellent narrative form. Posted here with permission from PassageMaker, all you have to do is click on the picture to the right and have a read! We are honored to have been featured in such a prestigious international publication. |
