On January 17, 2006 Launch 5 and several of her crew members were filmed for a scene in an upcoming film by Steven Soderbergh. Greg Porteus, Henry Walburger Jr., Bill Smith, Phil Porteus, Cliff Forrest, Jim Picciano and Charlie Luceno posed as NYPD Harbor cops aboard Launch 5 during the filming which took place in the East River. As a special tribute, Greg, Henry and Bill all wore their father's shields.
Filming the scene took all day with footage being shot of the launch and crew from various angles as well as some footage taken right aboard the launch.
